Sustainable Enterprise Project (SEP) To support small businesses in Bangladesh in adopting eco-friendly practices, PKSF has launched the 'Sustainable Enterprise Project (SEP)' with funding from the Government of Bangladesh from 2018 to 2023. The 5-year project is co-funded by PKSF and The World Bank (WB), with a budget of $130 million. The WB and PKSF have contributed $110 million and $20 million, respectively. Centre for Community Development Assistance (CCDA) was among the 47 Partner Organizations (POs) of PKSF that implemented the project successfully. CCDA operated a sub-project under the SEP titled “Promoting Sustainable Aquaculture Centric Enterprise in the Floodplain Area of Cumilla District” in 13 branches of the organization located in four sub-districts of Cumilla, from 01 October 2020, aiming to help 2020 microenterprises by 2023 providing them with various training, workshops, and microcredit loans. In 2020, CCDA’s SEP project secured a budget of 260M BDT from PKSF specifically for Agrosor SEP Loans. A sustainable sum of about 797M BDT was disbursed, but about 171M BDT remained outstanding at the field level. The project had set a target of reaching 2,020 micro-entrepreneurs, but it successfully reached 2,451 and executed 5,499 loan agreements. One of the core objectives of the sub-project was to extend environment-friendly practices and technology, on this regard across all branches that implemented the sub-project, a total of 2471 micro-entrepreneurs received support, and all of them adopted at least one Environmentally Sustainable Practices (ESPs). In total, these entrepreneurs adopted 4557 ESPs. The project involved 3 types of procurement: Services, Works, and Goods, successfully meeting its target in all categories. The total expenditure for these procurements amounted to about 5.5M BDT, with no reported deviations from the planned targets. In this sub-project, there have been notable achievements. Three unique brands were developed, complemented by the creation of distinctive packaging designs. Three outlets were established to enhance market presence. The sub-project was headed by Md. Masud Alam as Project Admin. Along with him, there was a Finance and Procurement Officer, a Technical Officer, a Technical Officer (Fisheries), a Documentation Officer, and an Environment Officer. |
