Recognizing the needs and importance of the poor community, CCDA was involved in implementing health care programs since 1996. Supported initially by ILO (International Labour Organization), CCDA has been providing low-cost health care services to the community, especially to the credit group members, through introducing Micro Health Insurance system in 2003 to provide health care facilities to a larger number of beneficiaries in a sustainable manner. To provide health care facilities CCDA established a Health Care Centre at Eliotgonj Bazar under Daudkandi upazilla of Comilla district. The services include consultation by a qualified doctor, medicines/drugs, investigations/pathological tests, referral arrangements etc—all at a price/cost much lower than prevailing market rates.
Presently the organization provides health care services to every household in Eliotgonj South Union through other project activities in ENRICH. CCDA staff go door to door to make them more aware and careful of their health, nutrition and personal health needs particularly for the women and their children. Health Officials collect health information and advise beneficiaries of any serious disease to the doctor/hospital. The organization has been arranging day-long satellite clinic and a special health camp for normal diseases.
